Holly Berries - Christmas Card Ideas, Painted Three Ways! : Preview

One of my favourite things to paint at this time of year is Holiday and Christmas cards, and I know many of you love doing the same!

Whether you’re creating little hand-painted cards or scanning your artwork to print and share, it’s such a fun, personal touch for the holidays.

In this tutorial, we’ll paint Holly Berries three different ways — from the simplest, quick sketch to a fully finished festive piece. 

First, I’ll show you the simplest version, perfect for beginners or for painting several cards quickly. 

Then from a similar simple start, we will build up gradually, adding layers, tone and detail — a version you can stop at any stage when you’re happy. 

Finally, we’ll go for a more “complete" painting, ideal for a detailed card, decoration, or even a little gift in its own right!

These three approaches are packed with classic watercolour techniques and plenty of festive fun, making this session perfect for all levels — from absolute beginners to confident painters looking for inspiration.
