Continuing with the theme of that potentially tricky subject, mixing greens. This bridge and flowers scene is part 2 of 4 on this topic, along with an in-depth separate video on the theory element of green mixing.
It is so easy to have green dominate a painting, in particular, one shade of green can take over. In this tutorial, we will look at how to create variety and depth in our greens - stretching the cool and warm versions of green to do this. As well as finding a balance between bright and bold greens versus more subdued greens.
As a cheeky bonus, there are two attempts at this subject; I talk you through how to analyse a painting which is less successful, learn from it, and then bring these lessons into our next paintings in a positive way.
See you there!
