There’s a lot of info packed into this one, but don't worry, it’s also an extremely fun one with a great end result!
This Venetian Scene is swimming in beautiful light with bags of atmosphere. It’s a fantastic opportunity to look at a few different principles in action. All of course ones you can bring into your own painting, whatever subject and style.
First up, this is a little continuation of figures in a setting. They are an interesting size of figures: not so large we need to worry about features, yet large enough to inject plenty of gesture and character into them, plus some fun details, to make them really pop!
We will also take a closer look at painting water. Not only how to tackle reflections in a very simple yet highly effective way, but also how to give a sense of light and gentle movement to the water's surface.
Finally, as is often the case, we look at simplifying a complex scene to create a concise and working painting. I show you how to analyse your subject to get the best out of it for your vision of the scene.
All this and lots more. Really excited to share this one with you and I can't wait to see how you all get on.
