Robin Red Breast - Back To Basics : Preview

One of the UK’s most loved little birds, and a perfect excuse to slow things right down and focus on some core principles and techniques of watercolour.

The main focus will be on negative shapes, trapping the light, and preserving whites.

These are fundamental watercolour techniques that often sound intimidating, but are surprisingly straightforward once you know how to use them! I promise.

We’ll build the painting slowly and steadily, focusing on simple light and shadow rather than detail. Being very clear about where and how to leave whites of the page, then how to paint around these whites to trap light and make the subject really pop!!

Simple, calm, and steady. A lovely one to settle into and really enjoy, with a great end result.
